Wearing Pink to the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk

Earlier this month, our West Coast team spent a sunny Saturday morning forever disproving the adage “nobody walks in LA.” On October 8, the Susan G. Komen Foundation held their annual More Than Pink walk in downtown Los Angeles. The event raises money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. We wouldn’t miss it.

“Getting involved in our local community is so important, especially at an event like this where the cause hits so close to home for so many of our employees, brides, and bridesmaids,” Linsey, our Brand Manager, explained, “It was a great opportunity not only to stand (or walk) in solidarity, but also to remind people to carve out time to celebrate the love and friendship in their lives and to cherish the joyful moments, while they can.”

So our team donned pink Birdy Grey dresses (and PJs) — in satin, mesh, and crepe — and headed downtown to walk the 1.25 mile route. E-commerce Coordinator Jenna rocked the Alex Convertible in beautiful crepe, but this ambitious Shopify whiz didn’t stop there. She also did the whole walk in our 3.3 inch Mary heels, putting these bridesmaid shoes to the ultimate test.

I think her smile says it all.

But it wasn’t just our intrepid staff who completed this walk. The real stars of the day were the three Birdy pups — Riggy, Finn, and Ollie — also tagged along for the fun. What dog doesn’t love a walk?! “Ollie loved romping with his fellow birdy pups and exploring downtown Los Angeles,” General Manager Janice said, "He just had some FOMO for his own pink sunnies.”

So far, the Los Angeles County event has raised more than $400,000 to fund breast cancer research, screening, treatment, and more. Though the walk itself is over, you can still be a part of the Los Angeles event by donating at the Susan G. Women website, linked here, through November 6, 2022.

And, lastly, fear not — we’ve made sure to pass along Ollie’s request for dog sunnies to our product development team.
